A 24yearold has appeared in court today, accused of murdering Sean Tui Patuone StrongmanLintern in Kapiti over the weekend. The accused entered no plea and remains in custody. Peata Melbourne reports. The day began with a blessing at the site where Sean Tui Patuone StrongmanLintern was stabbed to death with a knife on Saturday night. Emotions were running high as friends, family and people of the community gathered in the car park outside a local Kapiti bar where his body was found. A tragedy that police say was fuelled by alcohol and possibly drugs.
Neither his mother nor sibling attended this morning’s blessing ceremonies. With the police station only metres away from the car park, questions were raised as to whether or not the police are doing enough to prevent crime in and around the area. But some say it starts with the family. Cameras were not allowed in the Porirua District Court today, where the accused, Tristam Lee Eastham 24, appeared and entered no plea. It didn’t take long for the judge to decide for Eastham to be remanded in custody until next month.
