Emergency Custody Order Alabama

Emergency bill eliminates upcoming medical marijuana law deadline

TEO: KCRA 3’S MIKE TESELLE IS LIVE AT THE STATE CAPITOL WITH MORE ON WHY THAT DEADLINE WAS DROPPED. MIKE: THE DEADLINE WAS DROPPED BECAUSE APPARENTLY SOMEONE DROPPED THE BALL WHEN THEY WERE DRAFTING THE ORIGINAL LAW.

REGARDING MEDICAL MARIJUANA. BUT THERE IS JUST THERE IS MORE THAN JUST ONE PERSON TO BLAME. REMEMBER, BACK IN OCTOBER, GOVERNOR BROWN SIGNED THE CALIFORNIA MEDICAL MARIJUANA REGULATION AND SAFETY ACT.

A NEW LAW INTENDED TO SET LICENSING AND OPERATING RULES FOR MARIJUANA GROWERS, DISPENSERS, AND MANUFACTURERS. BUT THAT LAW RECENTLY HAD CITY’S RACING TO BEAT A MARCH 1ST DEADLINE. THAT DEADLINE SAID IF CITY’S DID.

NOT ADOPT THEIR OWN REGULATIONS THEN THEY WOULD GIVE UP AUTHORITY OVER MARIJUANA TO THE STATE. JUST THIS WEEK, SACRAMENTO WAS ONE OF THOSE CITIES THAT RUSHED TO MAKE A DECISION ON THIS. BUT HERE’S THE THING, LAWMAKERS.

NOW SAY THAT WAS A MISTAKE AND THE DEADLINE NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL LAW. INSTEAD THEY SAID IT WAS A DRAFTING ERROR. REGARDLESS, THAT ERROR WASN’T CAUGHT BY ANY OF THE LAWMAKERS.

WHO VOTED FOR THE BILL OR BY THE GOVERNOR WHO SIGNED THE BILL UNTIL AFTER THE LAW HAD ALREADY.
